watches are c00l

generic ck quartz: pretty cool watch, looks bigger than it is and gets the job done. very comfortable, it's super thin. the cool thing is that it doesnt have a seconds hand which i like. not a super fan of roman numerals but they're so thin at a glance the just look like lines. interestingly the 4 is wrong, 'IIII' instead of 'IV'. the story of this one is that apparently i bought it during a trip to Hong Kong as a gift for my mum. not only i have no recollection of this, its weird that i'd buy for my mum a watch that's so obviously a mens watch. many many many years later i gifted her an actual woman's watch, to which she reminded me that we had this one laying around the house from all those years ago. a battery change later and it was ready to go. at first i seldom used it. i had never worn watches before (i vaguely remember doing so as a very young kid) so it didnt feel too comfortable, or rather it was a new sensation my wrist wasn't used to. couple of friends are really into watches, so by talking to them i started to get interested too, and started wearing it more and more.

omega geneve dynamic: this is the one that propelled my interest in watches. as i got more and more into watches my mum reminded me that we had yet another watch laying around, this one alledgedly belonging to my grandfather. we later concluded that it was probably a gift my grandad gave to my father, given the fact that by the way the strap was (very) worn, it was probably used by someone with a bigger wrist. it is a very very nice watch, an amazing find for sure. after finding it i used it for a couple days and it kept time perfectly. currently i use it for special occasions only since its quite delicate (im weary of even washing my hands with this thing on) and the eventual routine service would probably cost a small fortune. thankfully i have a smaller wrist so i can use it with the current strap. changing it would also cost a small fortune probably since the way the watch is setup i'd have to remove the back to change it. i also assume it uses a proprietary design. that aside, i absolutely love this watch. love the bullseye oval dial and the orange seconds hand. while looking around for information someone sent me a magazine ad from that time, which looks amazing and i totally want on my wall.

orient kamasu: got this bc i wanted a "nicer" daily watch. after much thinking i ended up going with a diver, mainly because of the water resistance. the kamasu has a sapphire crystal too, so i can confidently wear this every day. the bezel is super helpful in timing things, and i absolutely love how divers look with nato straps. speaking of which, immediately after getting the watch i bought a couple natos and changed the bracelet. i dont think i'd go back to using bracelets, nato straps are so comfortable and very easy to change around. i imported the watch itself from japan, mainly because i half got this as a self gift for passing the N3, so getting a JDM with the japanese date display was important for me. i found a site the specifically exports JDM watches and they used DHL shipping which works best where im at, so it made sense all around.
