drawins, sketches

drawing was one of my main hobbies for many years, but over time i've drawn less and less. i still believe my talents are visual, but not as an illustrator, which is what i was trying to become. its hard for me to draw something standalone, that won't serve a bigger purpose (a comic, an animation, etc).

in the beginning i exclusively used pencil. sketches were messy and i didn't want to erase building/helper lines. i guess i liked them too much, or that they showed i was drawing the "proper" way. i started learning anatomy and my goal was to draw pretty anime girls. this created a clash between trying to draw cartoony weeb shit and "proper" realistic proportions. i dont think i was ever truly able to nail that middle ground.

after a while i bought some fineliners and used them to ink over. i was hooked on crosshatching and the ability to express volume and value with only black and white. i totally rejected colour, even after learning to draw digitally and having an arsenal of paintings stopped being a problem.

nowadays my main interest is, ironically, colour. even if i dont draw much, if at all

when i was actively trying to get better at drawing, i decided that i would make a video each year showcasing my progress:
